On Sunday September 18th STPD Officers handled 18 incidents, responded to 2 burglar alarms, and investigated 3 motor vehicle accidents.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

DUI-Eastern Blvd at Kingston Rd

At 0208 hours an Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after witnessing a violation at this location.  The driver of the vehicle was found to be intoxicated and he was arrested for DUI.  He was taken to Central Booking for a blood test and processing.  Charges to be filed.

Simple assault/Escape-Quality Inn, 2600 E Market St

At 1227 hours Officers responded to the Quality Inn for the report of a domestic related assault.  The victim advised her boyfriend had struck her in the face, resulting in a laceration.  The male then fled in a vehicle which was later located by Hellam Twp Police.  The male was taken into custody and was being transported to Central Booking to be arraigned on simple assault charges.  In the area of Rt 30 and N Sherman St, the male was able to slip out of handcuffs and free himself from the patrol vehicle.  The male fled on foot and was taken into custody nearby.  He was then taken to Central Booking and charged with simple assault and escape.

Retail theft-Weis Markets, 2400 E Market St

At 1448 hours and Officer took a report of a retail theft that occurred at Weis Markets.  An employee advised a male had taken over $200 worth of merchandise and fled in a dark colored vehicle.  Investigation to continue.

Harassment/Disorderly conduct-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1633 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of two customers who got into an altercation over chicken.  The argument turned physical and one customer will be charged after further investigation.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1952 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of two females in custody for retail theft.  An employee advised the females had taken $23 worth of merchandise without paying.  One female was cited and released and the other will be referred to the Youth Aid Panel because she is a juvenile.
