Charges Filed in Furniture Store Shooting

On Friday morning 2/24/2023 at approximately 11:05am, Officers from the Springettsbury Township Police Department were dispatched to the Price Busters Discount Furniture Store at 1900 Industrial Highway for the report of an active threat.   Officers arrived at 1109 and immediately entered and cleared the building of any active threat.  No injuries were discovered inside the building.  Investigation revealed that several shots were fired, and the suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival.   Officers from Springettsbury and neighboring jurisdictions searched and cleared the surrounding neighborhood for any additional threats.    Police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no active threat to the public.   

At approximately 7pm Police charged Kirk Olivier of Columbia, PA with 1 Count of Criminal Attempt Homicide and 1 Count of Aggravated Assault.

Police also charged another male in connection with this incident. Michael Whitt of York, PA was charged with 1 Count of Simple Assault and 1 Count of Possession of a Firearm Prohibited.

Warrants for both individuals were issued.

Investigation has revealed this was an isolated incident that occurred between two individuals who were familiar with each other.  A shooting occurred between them, and both subjects fled the scene prior to police arrival.  The surrounding neighborhoods and businesses were searched and cleared by responding law enforcement agencies.  Information was developed on the subjects involved, and arrest warrants were obtained for both. 

There has been much conjecture regarding this incident, specifically on social media.  There are also links to malicious websites attached to social media articles about this event.  The Springettsbury Township Police Department cautions the public about clicking on these links.  We have not published information on any sites other than our official website and social media accounts.  For clarification on the events of this incident, there were no casualties as reported in some social media outlets.  This incident was isolated and was not an active attacker event where a subject enters a location with the intent to inflict mass casualties.  The only injury in this incident was to one of the individuals involved. The incident was between two individuals who were familiar with each other, and there is no active threat to the public due to this event.
