On Friday July 13th STPD Officers handled 34 incidents, investigated 3 motor vehicle accidents, and responded to 2 alarms.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

DUI-Rt 30 at Pleasant Acres Rd

At 0240 hours an Officer from the Hellam Twp Police Department witnessed a vehicle spin out on Rt 30 and get stuck in the grass median.  An STPD Officer responded and the driver was found to be intoxicated.  He was arrested for DUI and transported to Central Booking for a blood test and processing.  Charges pending blood test results.

Criminal mischief-Petco, 2420 Eastern Blvd

At 1047 hours an Officer responded to the parking lot of Petco for the report of criminal mischief to a vehicle.  The victim advised that her vehicle had been damaged while she was inside the store.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1515 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for a male in custody for retail theft.  An employee advised the male took $33 worth of merchandise without paying.  He was cited and released.

Theft-Barnhart’s Motel, 3021 E Market St

At 1808 hours an Officer responded to Barnhart’s Motel for the report of a theft.  The victim advised a known subject had taken her laptop.

Disorderly conduct-2000 block of Cambridge Rd

At 1809 hours Officers responded to a residence on Cambridge Rd for the report of a domestic.  The male half came out into the front yard and began to yell and use racial slurs towards police.  He was taken into custody for disorderly conduct, cited and then released.

Retail theft-Giant, 2415 E Market St

At 1811 hours an Officer responded to Giant for a male in custody for retail theft.  An employee advised the male took $90 worth of merchandise without paying.  He was found to have a warrant and was also in possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was transported to Central Booking for the warrant and charges will be filed.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 2033 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of a retail theft.  A manager advised that an employee was found to have taken a total of $347 worth of merchandise over the past month.  Charges to be filed.
