On Friday June 30th STPD Officers handled 33 incidents, investigated 7 motor vehicle accidents, and responded to 6 burglar alarms.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 0108 hours an Officer observed a subject pushing a shopping cart full of un-bagged merchandise on Concord Rd.  When the Officer attempted to make contact with the subject, he fled on foot.  The items in the shopping cart were later found to have been stolen from Walmart.

Trespassing-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 0140 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of several subjects in the store who were suspected of committing a retail theft.  The subjects were confronted and it was discovered that one of them had committed a retail theft but Walmart did not want to prosecute.  Another one of the subjects was asked to leave the store but he refused.  After several attempts of trying to get the subject to leave, he was arrested for trespassing.

Simple assault/Strangulation-3900 block of Eastgate Dr

At 0141 hours an Officer responded to a residence on Eastgate Dr for the report of an assault.  The investigation revealed a male hit a female and grabbed her around the neck during an argument.  The male was no longer on scene and a warrant was obtained for his arrest.

DUI crash-2600 block of Eastern Blvd

At 0234 hours an Officer responded to the 2600 block of Eastern Blvd for the report of a vehicle that struck several fixed objects along the roadway.  The driver of the vehicle was found to be under the influence and she was arrested for DUI.  She was transported to Central Booking for a blood test and processing.  Charges pending the blood test results.

Hit and run-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 0236 hours an Officer was dispatched to the parking lot of Walmart for the report of a hit and run.  The victim advised that while she was in the store someone had struck her vehicle while it was parked in the lot.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1201 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of a retail theft that occurred earlier.  An employee advised a female was observed on video taking $44 worth of merchandise without paying.  The female suspect was identified due to her involvement in previous incidents at Walmart and charges will be filed.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1445 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for a female in custody for retail theft.  An employee advised the female had taken $60 worth of merchandise without paying.  She was released with charges to be filed for her second retail theft offense.

Theft from vehicle-Lowes, 2449 E Market St

At 1800 hours an Officer met with the victim for the report of a theft.  The victim advised that $2000 worth of tools were stolen out of his work van while it was parked at Lowes.  Video surveillance was obtained and the investigation is ongoing.

Possession of marijuana-Barnhart’s Motel, 3021 E Market St

At 1836 hours Officers responded to the parking lot of Barnharts for the report of a suspicious vehicle.  Contact was made with the operator of the vehicle and she was found to have active warrants for her arrest.  She was taken into custody and a small amount of marijuana was located in the vehicle.
