On Saturday May 20th STPD Officers handled 32 incidents, investigated 4 motor vehicle accidents, and responded to 3 burglar alarms.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

Hit and run-1000 block of Plymouth Rd

At 0635 hours an Officer located a vehicle in a parking lot on Plymouth Rd that had been involved in an accident.  The investigation revealed that on 5/19/17 the vehicle went off the roadway and damaged some Met Ed property before coming to rest in the parking lot.  The driver of the vehicle was located and the investigation is ongoing.

Retail theft-Kohls, 2600 Pleasant Valley Rd

At 1531 hours an Officer responded to Kohls for the report of a subject that fled after committing a retail theft.  An employee advised the male took $43 worth of merchandise and was seen leaving the parking lot in a red Ford Escort.  The employee got the tag number for the vehicle and the investigation is ongoing.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1600 hours an Officer was at Walmart for another call when an employee advised that a subject was in the act of committing a retail theft.  The suspect took $25 worth of merchandise and fled when confronted.  He was taken into custody nearby and found to have several warrants.  He was taken to Central Booking for the warrants and charges will be filed for retail theft.

Hit and run-Industrial Hwy at N Hills Rd

At 1802 hours an Officer responded to the above intersection for a hit and run report.  The victim advised her vehicle was struck from behind by a blue sedan.  The driver of the striking vehicle left the area without providing any information.  The victim obtained the tag number of the striking vehicle and the investigation is ongoing.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1835 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for a female in custody for retail theft.  An employee advised the female had taken $39 worth of merchandise without paying.  She was released with charges to be filed for her second offense.

At 1900 hours an Officer took a report for a retail theft that occurred at Walmart on 5/19/17.  An employee advised a male had taken $1982 worth of merchandise without paying.  Photos of the male were obtained and disseminated for identification assistance.  The employee also advised that another male, possibly the same one from this incident, committed a retail theft on 12/14/16.  In that incident $307 worth of merchandise was taken.

 

Hit and run-Rt 30 at N Hills Rd

At 1945 hours an Officer met with the victim for the report of a hit and run.  The victim advised that a red SUV struck his vehicle from behind.  The striking vehicle then left the scene and the victim obtained a partial tag number.

Possession of marijuana/drug paraphernalia-3800 block of E Market St

At 2020 hours Officers responded to a parking lot in the 3800 block of E Market St for the report of a suspicious vehicle.  Upon making contact with the occupants of the vehicle it was discovered that they were in possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  The subjects were released with charges to be filed.
