Update to Strong Armed Robbery – Identification Assistance Needed

 

The Springettsbury Township Police Department obtained video surveillance of the suspect prior to and after the robbery.  Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, who is observed in the following video segments.  The first video shows the suspect exiting the front passenger seat of a two-tone Subaru Outback.  The second video shows the suspect on foot, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with a logo on the front, light-colored pants and light-colored shoes.  The suspect is also wearing a dark knit hat.  As a result of the incident the 76 year old female victim sustained a dislocated shoulder in addition to bruising to her face and hand.  Anyone with information on the suspect and/or vehicle is asked to contact the Springettsbury Township Police Department at 717.757.3525 or the investigation officer, Sgt. On March 22nd 2017 at 2053 hours STPD Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Weis Markets at 2400 E Market St for the report of a strong-armed robbery.  The victim was a 76 year old female who advised a subject approached her in the parking lot and grabbed her purse while she was holding it.  The victim tried to resist but was knocked to the ground by the suspect.  The suspect then took the purse and ran west across Haines Rd.  Several bystanders pursued the suspect in vehicles and on foot and were able to recover the purse.  The suspect was last seen running north across E Market St.  The suspect is described as a white male in his teens wearing a red sweatshirt and light blue pants.  The victim sustained injuries as a result of the incident and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
