On Wednesday March 22nd STPD Officers handled 41 incidents, investigated 2 motor vehicle accidents, and responded to 2 burglar alarms.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

Retail theft-Giant Food Store, 2415 E Market St

At 0833 hours an Officer responded to Giant for the report of a retail theft that occurred on 3/20/17.  An employee advised a male took $50 worth of merchandise without paying.  Photos of the male were disseminated for identification assistance.  The employee also reported another retail theft that occurred on 3/20/17.  In that incident a male took $41 worth of merchandise without paying.  Photos of that male will also be disseminated for identification assistance.

Theft/Access device fraud-Panera Bread, 2801 E Market St

At 1215 hours an Officer was advised of a theft/access device fraud that occurred at Panera Bread on 3/3/17.  The victim’s bank card was stolen while she was at the business and the card was used to make unauthorized purchases.  The investigation is ongoing.

Hit and run-Empire Beauty School, 2592 Eastern Blvd

At 1505 hours an Officer responded to the Empire Beauty School for a hit and run report.  The victim advised her vehicle was struck in the parking lot.  A witness provided suspect information and the investigation is ongoing.

Armed robbery-Victoria’s Secret, 2899 Whiteford Rd

At 1515 hours an Officer responded to Victoria’s Secret for a robbery report.  An employee advised three female had been in the store and committed a retail theft where $2318 worth of merchandise was taken.  The employee confronted the females and one of them threatened the employee with pepper spray.  The females left the store and were last seen getting into a red Ford Explorer with MD tags.

Theft-FYE, 2899 Whiteford Rd

At 1737 hours an Officer responded to FYE for the report of an employee theft.  A manager advised an employee had conducted fraudulent transactions over the past two months resulting in a theft of over $2000.  The employee was found to have warrants and was transported to Central Booking.  Theft charges are pending further investigation.

Retail theft-Target, 2610 Pleasant Valley Rd

At 1855 hours an Officer responded to Target for the report of a female in custody for retail theft.  An employee advised the female had taken $179 worth of merchandise without paying.  The employee advised this female had also conducted similar thefts on 3/20/17 and 3/21/17.  The female was released with charges to be filed.

Strong armed robbery-Weis Markets, 2400 E Market St

At 2053 hours Officers responded to the parking lot of Weis Markets for the report of a robbery.  The victim advised she was approached by a male in the parking lot and the male forcefully took her purse.  The male fled on foot and was pursued by bystanders.  The purse was recovered but the male avoided apprehension.

Theft-Youth Development Center, 3564 Heindel Rd

At 2209 hours an Officer responded to YDC for a theft report.  A staff member advised a juvenile resident had stolen his cell phone when the juvenile was being discharged.  Charges to be filed.
