Aggravated Assault Arrest-Stabbing

On September 3, 2022, at 1408 hours Officers from the Springettsbury Twp. Police Dept. were dispatched to the Walmart located at 2801 E. Market St. for a stabbing.  It was reported that a female was stabbed by a male while in the checkout area.  Upon arrival the male suspect was taken into custody without incident and the female victim was transported to York Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The investigation revealed that this was a random act and the suspect and victim did not know each other.  The suspect was identified as Jerod Coty, 30, and he was charged with several counts of Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.  Coty was denied bail and committed to York Count Prison.  Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Springettsbury Twp.
